11 Weeks

Today, Sunday 8/30 marks the 11 week countdown to race day. Why is 11 weeks significant? Because my coach says so. The next 11 weeks are "key race training."  8 weeks peak training followed by 3 weeks taper. Taper? So soon? Isn't that like 6 months away? a year away?

Ok so it is the real deal.

Since February 7, I have been building my base to get to this point. It has been a lot of work but definitely manageable. I am happily seeing results. However,  right now I am not sure if I could actually finish  full distance Ironman. When I first realized that, it scared the daylights out of me. In a panic, I sent my coach an email about this a few weeks ago. Life (a lot of it!!) had been happening so the last month my training was less. How could I possibly do this? Apparently, I am not supposed to be able to finish a full at this point in training. If I were ready it would be an issue and I could not maintain Ironman fitness for months. It is a building process.

Got it.

I just have to trust this. That's why Julie is my coach. I trust her coaching. I trust the training.
I know training will be harder than it ever has. I know it will require more discipline than I ever have. I started slacking this month and sleeping in. No more of that. Life is slowing down. Ironman training is speeding up. Perfect timing.

Get the job done
Live life
No whining
and keep moving forward.
Most important try not to obsess over the bad days and do not get in my own way mentally.
I think I will write that on my arm in Sharpie.

Onto the next level of training.
