11 Weeks

Today, Sunday 8/30 marks the 11 week countdown to race day. Why is 11 weeks significant? Because my coach says so. The next 11 weeks are "key race training."  8 weeks peak training followed by 3 weeks taper. Taper? So soon? Isn't that like 6 months away? a year away? Ok so it is the real deal. Since February 7, I have been building my base to get to this point. It has been a lot of work but definitely manageable. I am happily seeing results. However,  right now I am not sure if I could actually finish  full distance Ironman. When I first realized that, it scared the daylights out of me. In a panic, I sent my coach an email about this a few weeks ago. Life (a lot of it!!) had been happening so the last month my training was less. How could I possibly do this? Apparently, I am not supposed to be able to finish a full at this point in training. If I were ready it would be an issue and I could not maintain Ironman fitness for months. It is a building process....
